Have a system set up in your drawer. Just throwing it in a drawer can cause snagging, dented cups, or heaven forbid, mold!
Rule #1: Like with all clothes, if you don’t wear it, get rid of it or donate it. If it is stiff, itchy, too small, too big, you wont wear it. If it is old, ratty, torn or the elastic is stretched out or dried up, it is time to toss it. If it is a special garment that sparks joy, (shout out to our gal pal Marie Kondo), keep it.

- I Support the Girls collects and distributes essential items, including bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress to stand tall with dignity. https://isupportthegirls.org/
- 100% cotton underwear is compostable, cut off the elastic band and toss the cotton part in the compost bin.
- USAgain is a recycle based company that take both used underwear and bras. Any items that aren’t in wearable condition are made into insulation materials, wiping rags, and furniture padding. http://www.usagain.com/
- Salvation Army will take used bras, and slightly worn lingerie.
- Many of the brands we carry in store will repair your bra if its condition is less than optimal for wearing.
Rule #2: A System should be in place. There are ways to do this and it is what makes things easier for you. You can divide by type of lingerie, occasion vs. everyday, or by color or pattern. Bethany Frankel used to store her lingerie sets in plastic bags.
- Hang your fancy robes, so you don’t have to steam them. Make sure that if they’re embellished, there is enough space between other items so they dont snag. If something is very heavy, put it in a drawer to avoid warping.
- You could get a drawer divider, or you could fold them directly in the drawer. (We like the Kon Mari method of folding)
- Lay molded cup bras flat, with the hook on the smallest clasp. Fold the straps into the cups. Stack cups on top of each other.
- Padless bras or bralettes are fine to fold.
- Make sure your drawers are smooth on the bottom to avoid tearing or snagging. If not, you can use contact paper or wallpaper.
